TIME: 2:00PM BST (+6 GMT)
The Depression over SW Bay of Bengal has further moved on WNW & intensified into a Deep Depression over South-West BOB, close to South Indian coast this morning.
It is being located approximately 50km ESE of Chennai, India.
.
Multispectral satellite animation is showing good rotations with sheared convection to the west of the exposed Low Level Circulation Center.
.
★Winds(1min avg):-
Average Maximum Wind speed in radius of 50km from the low level center is 55km/h.
Gusting up to 70km/h.
.
★Forecast:-
Upper Level analysis indicates that the system is currently in marginally favourable environment due to moderate to high wind shear offsetting by excellent westward outflow.
Also Having favourable SST (28-30°C) & other atmospheric parameter’s support but land interaction & increasing shear might hinder any further intensification.
.
Due to the aforementioned conditions, It could maintain intensity of a Deep Depression during next 3-6hrs & then weaken rapidly due to the aforementioned land interaction & high shear.
It could weaken into a Depression within next 6-12hrs & then into WML/LPA within subsequent 6-12hrs.
.
★Movement:-
It has moved on WNW direction during past 6hrs with the average speed of 25km/h.
From the present location, it could move generally WNW towards TN-AP Coast & cross coast near Chennai this evening.
.
